I have always enjoyed working with wood, when I was at school I got top of the 5th form for woodwork, and now i am back in the same room many years later as a wood turner.
I started over 10 years ago, once I joined i had a number of people help me do the finer things of wood turning, one being Deon Hazelhurst and Mike Bamford.
After a couple of years i was elected to join the committee, that stage i was one of the younger members. At that time we only had 4 laths so I joined a team to put a raffle together , to raise founds for new laths,we then were given grants,so then we bought more gear and laths .
With the new laths and gear we have had more people join and enjoy the fun of turning,
As the years passed, I am the president of the club, it's been great to work with the committee to let the club go forward. I now enjoy doing projects that poses a challenge, so i do lots of different things.
The club is in a time of change and I am glad to be able to lead them through this change, into a new era of wood turning.
